28e symposium Waddenacademie De toekomstige zoetwatervoorziening in het Waddengebied;
naar een duurzaam perspectief voor de landbouw In samenwerking met LTO Noord 29 juni 2022 HZPC, Metslawier
Wat is een duurzaam perspectief voor de landbouw in het Waddengebied? Hoe gaan we de benodigde zoetwater strategie vormgeven? En welke kennis is hiervoor nodig? Op deze, en ongetwijfeld ook andere vragen proberen we antwoorden te vinden tijdens het 28e Waddensymposium op woensdag 29 juni bij HZPC te Metslawier. We hebben een mooi programma samengesteld met interessante sprekers. De Noordelijke kleischil in Friesland, Groningen en Noord-Holland is al sinds mensenheugenis een landbouwgebied waar op zeer vruchtbare grond hoogwaardige gewassen worden geteeld. De combinatie van unieke gronden, minder ziektedruk door de zeewind, vakmanschap en een sterke agribusiness maakt dat dit gebied ook de kraamkamer van de aardappelteelt is. Deze situatie is in de toekomst geen vanzelfsprekendheid meer. Door zeespiegelstijging en bodemdaling door gas- en zoutwinning krijgt de landbouw in het Waddengebied vaker te maken met verzilting. Daarnaast neemt de druk op de beschikbaarheid van landbouwgronden verder toe, zoals door de uitbreiding van havens, de energietransitie en de omvorming van landbouwgrond in natuurgrond. Tegelijkertijd wordt het voor een ieder steeds duidelijker dat voedselzekerheid geen vanzelfsprekend meer is. Genoeg ontwikkelingen om te bespreken dus! Inschrijven voor het symposium kan vanaf 2 mei via de website van de Waddenacademie, www.waddenacademie.nl. Er zijn in totaal 150 plaatsen, wees er dus op tijd bij want vol is vol.
